What happens after we die?
Every culture senses that death is not simply the end β that something in us was made for more than a few decades. Christianity speaks to that instinct directly: it teaches that you are an eternal being, that physical death is not annihilation, and that there is life beyond it.
Jesus spoke about eternity more than almost anyone. He taught that we will each stand before God, and that our response to him matters forever. He was honest that there is a real loss to be feared β a final separation from God for those who turn from him. But the headline of his message was not threat; it was rescue.
The good news is that eternal life is offered as a gift, now. Jesus said that whoever believes in him 'has' β present tense β eternal life: a quality of life with God that begins the moment you trust him and continues unbroken through death and beyond. Death becomes not a wall but a doorway.
This changes how you live, not just how you die. If the best is truly yet to come, you can face the future β even your own mortality β without despair. The way to be ready is not to be good enough; it is to entrust yourself to the one who conquered death himself.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
